We Love to Create Challenge #12 Anything Goes/ Mixed Media Goes

We have a new challenge starting today on the We Love to Create Blog, They like to keep things pretty simple and the theme is Anything Goes/ Mixed Media Goes. I loved seeing everyone's entries for the last challenge and can not wait to see what everyone comes up with this time. For my piece this week I created a small canvas, to celebrate the fact that I have seen the sun and felt the sunshine. Hmmmmmm I wonder how long it will last.

To start I mixed a little Orange Tint with some gesso and painted the whole canvas. When I scraped the pigment from the pan I used a pallet knife and was very careful to only scrape across the top and not to dig into the pan. After that, I laid my new favourite brick stencil across the top and applied some Burnt Sienna to the canvas, just on the sides leaving a blank area in the centre.  

I took the three pairs of sunglasses and the word fun and coated them in gesso, before making a gesso and pigment mix to paint them with again. The two colours I mixed were Violet and Magenta Shade. 

I then stamped over the top with some background stamps and Versa Mark ink. I gently swiped the same colours over the top.  After I sealed everything I doodled over the top with black and white pens.

I was exploring adding Pan Pastel to Gesso to create this small canvas board and looking at how it covered chipboard pieces. For me, it's another win for Pan Pastels as it was easy to do both these things.
