Harlequin Heart

Wow the 1st of December already, I hope everyone is ready for the festivities.
Decembers challenge has started today on The Artistic Stampers blog and Facebook page, I hope you all feel inspired to play along.

I made a heart to hang from my tree, but as it's not overly Christmassy you can display it all year round.

The heart was a polystyrene shape I had in my stash, I covered this with scrunched up tissue paper.

which I painted with red acrylic paint.

I roughly stamped over the top with a harlequin stamp and distress ink before sprinkling with black embossing powder and heating with my heat tool. I like how the polystyrene will bubble under heat but if you don't you need to keep moving the heat tool not letting any area get too hot.

On a non-stick mat, I scrapped some layers of gold acrylic paint which I left to dry overnight. I carefully peeled them from the mat and glued them to my heart using a gel medium.

Using a very small amount of white paint I stamped the dot stamp to add some lighter areas. To finish off I doodled with a white paint pen and glued some black ribbon to the top so the heart could hang from my tree.
