Butterfly canvas - Polkadoodles

I had fun with this little canvas, it was complete and total play time for me, and I really like the end result. I threw so many different thin layers and mediums on it, I'm not sure I will remember them all.

I started by coating the canvas with a layer of gesso. Once that was dry I roughly applied some Pan Pastels and then some more gesso blending the Pan Pastel and gesso together. I added more Pan Pastel over the top in small areas, over the top I sprayed some sealant to stop those layers from moving while I worked on top of them. I can not remember what I added next but I sprayed it with water to create the drippage.

Over this, I applied Distress Ink through a stencil, sprayed it with water, made sure everything was dry and then applied the ink through a stencil again.

I then stamped this lovely Polkadoodles script stamp along the sides of the canvas with Distress ink and sprayed it with a small amount of water so it blurred once dry I re-stamped the same script stamp in small areas.

Once everything was completely dry, I wrote out my text with a black pen. I like to first write it out with a pencil to check my placement, spelling, and size.

On a separate piece of card, I stamped out a few butterflies in black archival ink and coloured them in with watercolour pens I also went over the top with some alcohol pens before gluing them to the canvas with gel medium.
