Free as a Bird

 New month new Challenge over on The Artistic Stampers blog, for my inspirational piece I create a tag using paints, chipboard bits from Infinity Engraving and the wonderful Free and a Bird stamp set from The Artistic Stamper. How I decorated my tag

I placed a splodge of PaperArtsy Cherry Red paint and some gesso onto my craft mat, then using a palette knife I picked up a little of both paints and scrapped it over the tag, making sure to cover the whole tag.

Next I painted some chipboard pieces from my stash, I coated each piece with two layers of paint. 

I took the bird stamps from the Free as a bird set and repeat stamped it over the tag using black Distress Ink, Then I heat embossed them with black embossing powder. I always like the little bits of excess powder that get stuck to the project and normally just keep it by melting it along with everything else.  

Then I stamped over the birds with Calligraphy Mat 15 and paint.

and the trellis with the Lace Background stamp.

Then I glued the chipboard pieces to the tag and scrapped a little white paint to the edges of the tag. To finish I painted a little chipboard tag and stamped the words Free as a Bird using black ink. I attached this to the tag with a little charm and a flower brad.
